SALEM WOODS CIVIC ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING
2/4/09
The Board Meeting of the Salem Woods Civic Association was called to
order at 7:15 p.m. by President Kirk Traber with the following other board
members present: Sarah Ezell, Heidi Rosen, Scott Kittell. The following
SWCA members were also present: Kathy Toll and Maureen Newton.
Old Business: There was no old business to discuss.
New Business:
President Kirk Traber met with the Swim Team prior to our meeting. They
now will be filing joint taxes with SWCA since we share the same EIN tax
identification number.
Vice President, Scott Kittell: Neighborhood Watch update - Seventy-five
people have been contacted and Scott received 50 positive responses from
residents who would like to participate in neighborhood watch. Scott needs
blueprints of the Sections in Salem Woods. Kathy will ask our attorney for
the copies, & have them scanned to a disk. Message to go up on the
readerboard asking for participants.
Webmaster: Heidi standing in for Dustin: Dustin is building a new website
for his Master’s project. He will do a presentation at the next board mtg. to
show us how to access and put information up on the site.
HOA Discussion – Discussion on pros and cons of HOA vs. SWCA and
what we are up against with Section 1 coming due on June 11th, 2009.
Before we can move forward, we need to amend the bylaws and articles, and
publish them in the newspaper. Will we keep the pool separate, or part of
the HOA. We need to meet with the lawyer to have more questions
answered. Out of the $10,000 allotted to spend on legal assistance, we have
already used approximately $4,000.
Treasurer, Heidi Rosen – Budget analysis for the past 3 years was presented
and included projections for the upcoming year. Discussion on pool
expenses, maintenance contracts, lifeguards, chemicals etc. and office
budget for 2009 was presented. Budget will be on the web after it is
approved when we have a quorum.
We also discussed charging a $25 fee for bounced checks. This will be put
into the newsletter.
Recreation/Spirit: Sarah Ezell said we need two new swings for the
swingset at Revere Park.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at
8:30 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
