Salem Woods Civic Association Board Meeting
2/7/08
The Board Meeting of the Salem Woods Civic Association was called to order by President Dr.
Barry Ezell on February 7th, 2008 at 7 p.m.
Board Members present included Dr. Barry Ezell, Heidi Rosen, Jim Newton, Sarah Ezell, and
Pete Leavitt. Office Manager Kathy Toll, Eric & Susan Pettersen and son Drake, Theresa
DeRubeis, John Nevi and Bill Pully were also present.
Dr. Ezell moved that the minutes from the January meeting be approved. The motion was
seconded, and the motion carried.
Old Business: Eric Petterson’s son Drake presented his Eagle Project to landscape the areas
around the pool. The plans include a split rail fence and 35 holly bushes to be placed around the
front and sides of the parking lot. Drake will raise $600.00 in funds and the Civic Association
will raise the remaining $600.00. Donations gladly accepted. Project information will go on the
website and in the newsletter.
President Barry Ezell and the Board nominated and approved Theresa DeRubeis and Bill Pully to
the SWCA Board to fill 2 vacant spots. Bill & Theresa will help with membership. Bill
suggested having Block Captains for each street to disseminate information regarding Salem
Woods news and to increase membership. Theresa will also help welcome new residents to
Salem Woods and find more volunteers. Her daughter will help us place an ad for pool
membership in the SHS newsletter.
Pete Leavitt, Deed Restriction, discussed identity theft and the CASE program. Discussion
ensued on ways to increase residents’ awareness of crime and also how to find more volunteers to
participate in both SWCA events and the neighborhood watch program. The Board is committed
to returning the Neighborhood Watch program to Salem Woods. John Nevi will volunteer his
time to help Pete Leavitt look into this program.
Barry Ezell spoke with Sandler and Sons and they are working up a donation proposal for our
new park. This should be finalized shortly. Salem Woods may have to match Sandler and Son’s
donation.
Heidi Rosen, Vice President, discussed administrative tasks that had been completed including
