Meeting called to order at 6:30 by Dr. Barry Ezell. Board members present included Sarah Ezell, Karen Renda, Pete Leavitt, Dave Leonard, Barry Ezell, Jim Bayley, Amy Martinez, Chic Adams and Maureen Newton. Kathy Toll, Office Manager, Del. John Welch and his opponent Bob Mathieson were also present.

Del Welch and Bob Mathieson were welcomed by the board. They shared with us their views concerning transportation issues, the abusive driver tax and support for education and crime issues.
Dr. Ezell moved that the minutes from the last meeting be approved. The motion was seconded and the motion carried.

Karen Renda stated there will be no yard of the month for October. The Gardener’s Guild will be putting “Down the Storm Drain, Only Rain” reminder stickers on the storm drains in Salem Woods as a reminder that only water should be going down the storm drains.

Maureen Newton gave us an update on Phase I of the Park. The tennis courts are down, the small pool is filled with the remains of the court and the old court area has been graded at a cost of about $9875.00 She will be getting estimates for the topsoil needed to grow grass; then seeding and watering will commence. She is also obtaining estimates for the concrete to cap off the small pool. The redtips are down at the large pool at a cost of $2,250.00. Maureen is getting estimates for a lattice type of privacy for the Melnicks, who live adjacent to the pool. Hoping to do this for $200.00. Karen was asked for a recommendation for a low growing type of hedge to eventually be planted around the parking lot area of the large pool.

Sarah filled us in on the Halloween Party to be held on the 20th, and an Autumn Social to be held Nov. 4th at the clubhouse. She is checking into having the Jazz Quartet from Salem High School perform. Sarah stated that there have not been too many new residents to welcome lately.

Kathy Toll informed the board of the current SWCA membership and the progress of the newsletter.
Jim Bayley stated that we have enough money available to get us through our regular monthly expenses through Dec. 07. However, we only have $3,000 of ready available cash left in a money market fund to cover the concrete and misc. other expenses in Phase I of the Park. Other investments would be subjected to an early withdrawal penalty.

Barry stated that the Board would send emails to decide upon fees to be voted on in the next proxy before the next general meeting to be held on November 1st or the 8th, discussion on this also. The proxy will be included in the Oct. newsletter.
